May 2019: DePaul Pop Culture Conference: A Celebration of Disney (Chicago, IL)

  • Presentation on how Disney inspires us in real life, including the inspiration for creating the evaluation tool called color scripting. Presenters were Dr. Wendy Tackett, Paul Tackett, and Steve Chapman (Disney Imagineer).

  • Presented on Measuring Impact through Program Evaluation. Day long keynote training on understanding evaluation basics, making evaluation useful, using data sources other than student assessments for educational evaluation, sharing several tools for use in evaluation, and visualizing evaluation results in useful ways.

  • Presented on the use of the Local Evaluators Guide and evaluation techniques within afterschool programs. Presenter was Dr. Wendy Tackett.

November 2010:  American Evaluation Association Annual Conference (San Antonio, TX) 

  • Presented on the development and implementation of a statewide evaluation guide focused on standards for local evaluation in Michigan's 21st Century Community Learning Centers programs. Co-presenters were Dr. Wendy Tackett and Dr. Laurie Van Egeren from the state's evaluation team at Michigan State University.

October 2010:  CREATE Conference (Williamsburg, VA)

  • Presented on the development and implementation of a statewide evaluation guide focused on standards for local evaluation in Michigan's 21st Century Community Learning Centers programs. Presenter was Dr. Wendy Tackett.

November 2009:  American Evaluation Association Annual Conference (Orlando, FL)

  • Presented on the use of evaluation findings within a Michigan 21st Century Community Learning Centers program. Co-presenters included Dr. Wendy Tackett, Carol Westjohn from the Clare-Gladwin RESD, and the Michigan State University evaluation team.

  • Presented on the implementation of the metaevaluation process within a federally-funded Healthy Marriages project. Co-presenters were Dr. Wendy Tackett, Dr. Megan Mullins, and Yael Levi from the Child & Family Resource Council.

May 2009:  Michigan Educational Research Association, Inc. Spring Conference (Mt Pleasant, MI)

  • Presented keynote on evaluation basics including terminology, internal versus external evaluators, evaluation planning formats, reporting elements, and how to get started with local evaluation efforts. Presenter was Dr. Wendy Tackett.

September 2008:  Partners in Nursing Annual Conference (Carlsbad, CA)

  • Presented information on social network analysis and return on investment as it applies to the PIN-funded project, Foundations Underwriting Nursing Development. Presenter was Dr. Wendy Tackett.

March 2008:  Math Science Partnership Meeting (Chicago, IL)

  • Presented on evaluation implementation and findings from Oakland Schools' Math Science Partnership project. Co-presenters were Dr. Wendy Tackett, Valerie Mills (project director), and Adele Sobania (STEM faculty).

November 2007:  American Evaluation Association Annual Conference (Baltimore, MD)

  • Presented on statewide evaluation implementation and findings from Michigan's Math Science Partnership projects. Co-presenters were Dr. Wendy Tackett, Dennis Rudy (local evaluator), and Shannan McNair (state evaluator).

June 2007:  National Mathematics Science Partnership Coordinators (Washington, DC)

  • Presentated on evaluation implementation and findings from Michigan's Math Science Partnership projects, especially focusing on Oakland, Wayne, and Washtenaw counties. Presenter was Dr. Wendy Tackett.

April 2007:  Michigan Afterschool Collaborative Conference (Dearborn, MI)

  • Presented strategies for making sense of evaluation data and using it for program improvement in the afterschool setting. Co-presenters were Dr. Wendy Tackett, Carol Westjohn (program director), and Laura Bates (state evaluator).

March 2007:  Governor's Education Summit (Lansing, MI)

  • Presented evaluation findings and future implications for mathematics education based on the Mathematics Science Partnership grants. Co-presenters were Dr. Wendy Tackett, Frederica Frost and Dennis Rudy, two local evaluators, and Shannan McNair, a state evaluator.

February 2006:  National Afterschool Conference (Louisville, KY)

  • Presented workshop to national audience of afterschool professionals giving specific strategies about how to make the evaluation process more meaningful to the key stakeholders of the program and more useful in making program decisions and improvements. Presenter was Dr. Wendy Tackett.

May 2005:  Northern Exposure Meeting (Clare, MI)

  • Presented findings from a year-long research project that analyzed the gaps between what youth know and how they perform in writing between their 12th grade year and freshman year in college. Presenter was Dr. Wendy Tackett.

June 2004:  No Disposable Kids Conference (Rapid City, SD)

  • Mentored youth participatory evaluation team (YPE) as they presented their evaluation process and results nationally.

November 2003:  American Evaluation Association Annual Conference (Washington, DC)

  • Presented the development and use of eco-maps to evaluators from around the country. This presentation utilized specific examples from a substance abuse prevention community coalition. Presenter was Dr. Wendy Tackett.
